KC Chiefs Address Offense And Defense In Two Round Mock Draft

The KC Chiefs have their work cut out for them this off season. Justin Houston got franchise tagged on Monday, Rodney Hudson needs a new deal, and several players need to restructure their contracts in order for more moves to be made.

So where does all of that leave us? Well, the 2015 NFL Draft is approaching in a few months and that, along with free agency, is where the Kansas City Chiefs will have to hope to do the most damage in (I mean that in a positive light obviously).

Dan Kadar of SB Nation recently compiled a two round mock draft for all 32 NFL teams, and he felt that the Chiefs would address both sides of the ball during these two rounds.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com recently predicted that the KC Chiefs would go after strong safety Landon Collins of Alabama in round one of the 2015 NFL Draft. Here is Kadar’s reasoning,

"If the top four wide receivers are off the board, and the Chiefs aren’t comfortable with Green-Beckham, they could look at a different position in the first round. Collins would give the Chiefs a talented player in the secondary and some insurance if there are complications with Eric Berry‘s lymphoma treatment."

I said this before when I covered Jeremiah’s pick and I’ll say it again now, I really like this pick. Yes, the Chiefs need a receiver, but Landon Collins is the best safety available in the draft and if he’s on the board by pick 18, it would be a smart choice to snatch him up.

As for round two, Kadar had the Chiefs going with an obvious need.

If the Kansas City Chiefs don’t pick up a wide receiver in the first two rounds, then it’s safe to say that a lot of fans will throw their remotes directly at the television. Luckily, this particular mock draft has the Chiefs nabbing USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor in the second round. Here was what Dan Kadar had to say,

"Agholor might not have the big play ability of some of the first-round receivers, but he’s as dependable as any of them. He has good hands and enough wiggle to make people miss in the open field."

This year’s wide receiver draft class is just as good as last year’s and Kansas City can’t afford to miss out on grabbing a grade-A talent for two years in a row. Agholor was my second round pick for the Chiefs in my first seven round mock draft because this kid can find the end zone. That’s something the KC Chiefs need desperately in 2015.

I have to say, I’d be quite content if this was how the first two rounds of the draft played out, as it would fill needs for the team and would help them in the immediate future. Both of these guys could jump in and play right away (well, let’s hope so anyway).

What would you think if this is how the KC Chiefs’ first two rounds looked?
