With the amount of turnover a lot of guys will have a chance to make their impact with Sporting KC, and Krisztian Nemeth may be the biggest surprise of the year. Nemeth has a chance to be to 2015 what All Star Forward Dom Dwyer was to 2014.

Dwyer went on loan to Orlando City in 2013 and set a USL league record with 15 goals on the way to leading them to the USL Championship game. In the championship game Dwyer put on an MVP performance by scoring four goals and one assist in route to the Orlando City win.

Dwyer returned to Sporting KC in time to help them make a playoff push, and was an intricate piece in helping them to the Championship game. After being an important piece to Sporting KC’s 2013 Championship run, Dwyer was rewarded with the premiere starting job to begin 2014.

Dom Dwyer never looked back, going on a tear through the entire season. Despite Sporting KC falling short of their ultimate goal of repeating as champions, Dwyer was one of the bright spots during the 2014 season. He finished second in MLS in goals scored with 22 goals.

During the 2013 season Krisztian Nemeth played for Roda JC Kerkrade, and scored two goals in 21 appearances. Nemeth made a major impact for Roda JC Kerkrade during the 2014 season with eight goals and six assists in 24 appearances.

More from Sporting Kansas City

Nemeth joined Sporting KC in December of 2014, and has been the biggest star for the team so far this preseason. Nemeth had a coming out party against FC Tucson on February 9th. He opened his Sporting KC scoring account with a three goal hat and one assist performance.

He followed up his hat trick performance by calmly putting away a penalty kick to score Sporting KC’s first goal against the Colorado Rapids. Sporting KC came back from down 2-0 to finish the game in a 2-2 draw, and Nemeth’s 45 minute second half performance was a big reason why they were able to rally for the draw.

If he continues his current form he could land himself the starting job on the wing opposite of Graham Zusi. A crafty winger who can make plays and score goals is something that the Sporting KC offense can really benefit from. The offense in 2014 was centered around Dwyer and if you took him out of the game, Sporting KC’s offense usually stalled.

Watch for Nemeth’s name as Sporting KC finishes their preseason with games against Seattle on February 21st, Real Salt Lake on February 25th, and Minnesota United (To Be Announced).
