THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS WILL HAVE TO BEAT A SCRAPPY TCU HORNED FROGS SQUAD TO REMAIN IN SOLE POSSESSION OF FIRST PLACE IN THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE.

The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team will have their hands full with the TCU Horned Frogs on Wednesday night on the road. The Jayhawks (16-3, 5-1) better be prepared because TCU is playing well of late, and everyone remembers when the Horned Frogs upset the Jayhawks two years ago.

Kansas Jayhawks Game Notes Against TCU Horned Frogs

TCU is coming off a heartbreaking loss on the road against the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday. In overtime, TCU scored a basket to take a one-point lead with 1.9 seconds left. With no timeouts left, West Virginia heaved a full court pass that was caught by Jevon Carter, who took the ball up for a lay-up.

  • An official called a questionable foul on the shot, which missed, with .9 seconds left, and Carter made both free throws to seal another loss for the Horned Frogs.

The Horned Frogs may not have many conference wins, but they are a dangerous team, and no game is easy on the road.

TCU has nine players who average more ten minutes a game playing time but only Kyan Anderson averages in double figure points (13.7). Anderson also leads the team in assists (3.9). Kenrich Williams leads the Horned Frogs in rebounding (6.6).

Kansas played probably their best all around game of the season on the road against Texas this weekend, beating the Longhorns, 75-62. The Jayhawks turned the ball over just three times in the victory, and played the whole second half without a turnover.

Devonte’ Graham has been fantastic since returning from a toe injury. In Big 12 play, he has 20 assists and just one turnover. Brannen Greene scored 14, and made four of his five three-pointers. In his last two games, Greene has made seven shots from beyond the arc in just nine attempts.

For the season, Greene is shooting 48% from long distance (24 for 50), and can be a difference maker down the stretch if he can continue his solid shooting.

It appears as if Head Coach Bill Self has whittled down his rotation. He played just eight guys against Texas, with Landen Lucas and Sviotoslav Mykhailiuk apparently the odd men out.

Still, having these two in reserve to cover for foul trouble, injuries, or match-up issues, is a nice luxury for the Kansas Jayhawks.

The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team had better not take TCU lightly, or they will find themselves with an unexpected loss. The teams in contention for the conference title need to win the games they are expected to, or it will be difficult in the end.

The young Jayhawks look like they might be on the cusp of really figuring things out. Let’s hope the Texas performance was a harbinger of things to come, and not just a fluke.
