The Kansas City Chiefs lost to the winless Oakland Raiders on Thursday night and no one really wants to talk about it. I don’t blame them, as the Chiefs started this game looking horrendous and couldn’t get ANYTHING going.

They did make it a close game and even took the lead in the fourth quarter, but still… The Chiefs should have dominated a winless Raiders squad and instead are now having to hope for the Broncos to lose a second straight game. What a shift for the fans who were on cloud nine just a few days ago and now are calling the Kansas City Chiefs “a joke”.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City was riding a five game winning streak heading into the black hole whereas the Raiders were riding a 16 game losing streak dating back to last year. Both of these streaks came to a close on Thursday night when the Raiders were able to catch the Chiefs at a bad time.

Before we get into a painful edition of where the Kansas City Chiefs need improvement, let’s discuss what I suggested last week.

Last week, I had strong words for the run defense, fourth quarter offense, and wide receivers. The run defense will be making another appearance on this week’s edition because I don’t even think they showed up honestly.

The fourth quarter offense had a Jamaal Charles receiving touchdown and later Cairo Santos kicked a field goal to take the lead so I can’t really fault them this week. The wide receivers yet again didn’t get in the end zone, but injuries plagued them in this game so they get a break this week. Dwayne Bowe had a few nice catches and was open frequently during the game, Alex Smith just didn’t throw the ball his way.
