facebooktwitterreddit

NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks wrote an extensive review of the Kansas City Chiefs offense using the All-22 coaches film. He used multiple embedded videos to show how coach Andy Reid has used De’Anthony Thomas and outstanding play design to open up the run game for running back Jamaal Charles.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

In short, Reid has made extensive use of misdirection to help Kansas City make plays this season.

Long-time Kansas City Royals DH Billy Butler has signed a 3-year free-agent contract with the Oakland A’s. Goodbye Country Breakfast, thanks for a great final run that almost brought a World Series title to Kansas City.

The Kansas Jayhawks got embarrassed in an early showdown with no. 1 Kentucky, losing 72-40. Coach Bill Self looks like he’s got his work cut out for him this season.

Meanwhile, K-State senior linebacker Jonathan Truman was named as a semi-finalist for the Burlsworth Award, given to an FBS player that began his career as a walk-on.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

NFL.com – Extensive breakdown of Chiefs offense by former NFL player Bucky Brooks:

"When considering contenders for Coach of the Year, voters should take a long, hard look at Andy Reid— and appreciate the work he has done in Kansas City. While there are plenty of deserving candidates, including Arizona Cardinals head man Bruce Arians, the adaptability Reid has showcased in retooling the Chiefs‘ offense has been extraordinary. In fact, Reid’s work has been so impressive that Kansas City could overtake the Denver Broncos as the team to beat in the AFC West and make a legitimate run at the top playoff seed in the conference."

Arrowhead Addict – The Kansas City Chiefs Rule:

"You could say the football Gods have given destiny a whirl. That much is clear. Either that or there’s been a polar shifting time rift and we’re all living through a Twilight Red Zone in an alternate universe. One in which the Kansas City Chiefs have become one of the very best teams, top to bottom, in the National Football League."

KANSAS CITY ROYALS

Royals Review – Nice breakdown of current Royals roster and estimated costs for 2015:

"The Royals have a pretty pivotal off-season coming up, one that could either sustain the success they’ve built on the last two years, or take them back to suckville with debilitating albatross contracts. Dayton Moore likes to hold his cards pretty close to the chest, although there have been smoke signals they may have interest in players like Yasmany Tomas, Melky Cabrera, Brandon McCarthy, or Ervin Santana."

Kings of Kauffman – Winter Leagues Weekly Recap:

"The 12-12 Gigantes continue to change their lineup daily, meaning outfielders Carlos Peguero and Moises Sierra have moved about the order. Peguero batted third and fourth last week. He also played left and right field, while DHing on Sunday. Peguero went 5-for-20 with eight strikeouts. He did walk five times and score seven runs."

KANSAS JAYHAWKS

KUSports.com – Kentucky Basketball Coach John Calipari credits depth with wearing down KU:

"“We kind of bum-rushed them a little bit and every time they looked, there were more tanks coming over the hill, more substitutes and reinforcements, here they come,” Calipari said. “It kind of gets to you a little bit. And I think that’s what happened a little bit.”"

KANSAS STATE WILDCATS

KStateSports.com – LB Jonathan Truman named semi-finalist for the Burlsworth Award:

"Kansas State senior linebacker Jonathan Truman is one of 10 semifinalists for the Burlsworth Award, which honors the most outstanding football player in America that began his career as a walk-on, the award’s committee announced Tuesday."
