The Kansas City Chiefs had a huge victory over the defending champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The victory proved that these Kansas City Chiefs are for real, as we get closer and closer to the postseason.

Even though the Chiefs have won five games in a row, there are still some areas that need to be improved on for Thursday night’s game in Oakland against the winless Raiders. First though, let’s go over what I suggested improving on for this past weekend’s game.

The offensive line made my list for the eighth time this season. If you’re keeping track, that’s not a good thing at all. The game against Seattle was a huge improvement for this offensive line though.

For one, Alex Smith wasn’t sacked once. That hasn’t happened since the 49ers game. Second, the line did a great job opening some holes for Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis to run through. Third, Donald Stephenson got some playing time!

This game was a huge improvement and maybe, just maybe, the explanation of the poor play against Buffalo was because of the Bills’ ferocious defensive line. Let’s just say that it was.

De’Anthony Thomas and getting Travis Kelce the ball more were my other two areas last week. Thomas was listed due to his poor decision making skills when he’d field punts at the two yard line. He had a decent game overall on Sunday stats wise.

As a punt returner, he only returned once (and went for nine yards) and as a kick returner, he returned the ball for 39 yards. He would have had a longer punt return, but he stepped out of bounds.

Yes, it was frustrating, but Thomas had the ball on the 20 anyway so there wasn’t damage done with him returning there. The Seahawks actually ended up getting a 15 yard penalty called against them, so the ball ended up being put on the Chiefs 44 yard line.

Kelce only had three receptions this week, but it was evident early on that Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis would be getting most of the work load on Sunday due to this being a “run heavy” game. I still think Kelce needs to get the ball more, but getting him involved will be left off this week.
