The red-hot Kansas City Chiefs picked up their fourth win of the season yesterday against their cross state rival, the St. Louis Rams. I say red hot because the Chiefs seem to be clicking in every phase of the game and it’s resulting in wins.

They’ve now won two in-a-row, with the seven game losing streak New York Jets making a visit to Arrowhead. Kansas City could quickly find themselves at 5-3 and right in the thick of things for the playoffs during the final eight weeks.

Though they’ve had to battle injuries in key spots, the Chiefs find themselves as one of the more dangerous, young, teams in the NFL right now and since they’ve stood up to the bullies of the AFC already (Denver, New England, San Diego) this team knows that it can hang with anyone.

Possibly the biggest surprise of it all has been the defense. They only allowed 7 points yesterday to Austin Davis and his Rams offense. Going into the game, the Chiefs ranked number one in pass defense and only added to that fact even more yesterday. The pass rush was really effective along with corners blanketing receivers. We’ll get to that more later when I hand out the report cards.

Andy Reid has done a fine job of getting this young group back on track despite taking some heat for a couple of the games he has called. He has Alex Smith on pace to have a career year, while understanding that the strength of his offense is in the backfield, and that’s where we will start.

Here are my grades for the offensive side of the ball.
