Adam Teicher, also from ESPN, confirmed.
Chiefs moves include bray, kyle williams to IR. Bray move solves QB dilemma — Adam Teicher (@adamteicher) August 30, 2014
As Teicher alluded, Bray’s injuries in the last preseason game may have solved a problem for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs obviously were going to go with veteran Chase Daniel as the primary back up to Alex Smith, but it appeared as if Bray was going to get the third starting nod.
Tyler Bray received much more playing time than rookie Aaron Murray received this preseason, but it is hard to believe the Chiefs wanted to cut either one. Both need more development, and the Chiefs will now have another year to decide if either can be the heir apparent to Smith, if Smith cannot be re-signed.
Dwayne Bowe is suspended for the first game, so one of these may just have one more week with the team. This wide receiver corps does not inspire much confidence at this point. Someone will have to step up their production in a big way if this offense is going to be effective week in and week out.
With or without Bowe, there isn’t anyone who fans can be really excited about. It will be more interesting to see how the Kansas City Chiefs use rookie De’Anthony Thomas in the offense.
Hopefully, they will be able to get the ball into Thomas’ hands, and the youngster can develop into a second weapon for the Chiefs, in addition to Jamaal Charles.
It is too bad Tyler Bray suffered injuries, but the Chiefs can now work at developing some talent at the quarterback position.
