Fantasy Football Tight Ends: Top 10 You Should Target In 2014
Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta (88) Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports
Dennis Pitta of the Baltimore Ravens checks in at #8 on my list. Pitta is very similar to Kyle Rudolph in my mind. Both are coming off of injury ridden seasons, yet both received big contracts this offseason. While Rudolph is a little bigger, Pitta makes up for it in speed and catching ability.
Pitta missed the first 12 games of last season after suffering a fractured hip in training camp. In those four games he did appear in, he didn’t do much. Pitta only caught one touchdown in those games, but he did average 5 receptions a game.
If we look at the last season Pitta was actually healthy, he was a beast. In 2012, Pitta caught 61 passes for 669 yards and seven touchdowns, and that was with Ed Dickson as the ‘starter’. With Dickson gone, Pitta is now alone in the spotlight.
Lastly, Flacco is a respectable quarterback that will be able to get the ball where it needs to go. With Ray Rice suspended for the first two games of the season, Baltimore will turn to the passing game for help. If Pitta can return to his 2012 form, he is definitely a tight end you want on your team.
