Electronic Arts (EA) is set to release its newest version of Madden NFL 15 and Derrick Johnson‘s rating was released yesterday afternoon. The best selling franchise is releasing its 2015 edition in August and will feature Seattle Seahawks corner back, Richard Sherman on the front cover.
I grew up playing Madden football with a passion. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a house that had all the newest video game systems, and with those was always a copy of the newest Madden. So around this time every year, I become impatient and go searching to see what the Chiefs roster is going to look like.
So far, EA is only releasing the top 5 at each position and their doing it day-by-day. Kansas City Chiefs all-world running back, Jamaal Charles already made EA’s countdown as the second best running back on the game, which you can check out right here.
Anyway, Derrick Johnson made EA’s latest rating release as the fourth best middle linebacker in the game with an overall rating of 91. Here’s what EA’s website had to say about the 10 year veteran,
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Moore on Johnson: Johnson has great physical tools (85 SPD/85 AGI/90 ACC) to go along with his top-level intangibles (93 AWR/94 TAK/98 PUR).
Great respect for the old vet, who’s having a monster training camp so far. DJ is coming off a very successful 2013, one in which he earned himself another trip to the Pro-Bowl and lead the team in tackles (107). He accounted for 4.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and a game clinching fumble recovery against the Houston Texans. (stats via NFL.com)
He also came in at number 64 in the top 100 players of 2014, and will become the Chiefs all-time leading tackler early into the 2014 season, barring injury of course.
Johnson is the heart and soul of the Chiefs defense and has been for quite sometime. In case you haven’t see it, here’s a link to his KCChiefs.com “under the helmet”, a series in which they mic up a player during a game and follow it with an interview. It gives you tremendous insight to just how important DJ is to the Chiefs defense.
DJ’s ranking of a 91 is pretty consistent with what his ranking has been the last two or three Madden games, so I feel like this ranking is fair.
The Chiefs won’t likely have another player on the list until they release the Safety rankings on Wednesday with Eric Berry. I feel like his ranking will be anything between a 90-95, which is about right considering the type of season he had in 2013.
We’ll make sure to keep you updated.
