The Royals get back to work after the All-Star break. GM Dayton Moore has already made a few moves to retool the club, acquiring reliever Jason Frasor from Texas and trading minor league arm Ryan Verdugo to the Red Sox.

Moore has a whole lot more work to do if we are to expect the Royal to make a 2nd-half run, but the early moves are a good sign that Moore isn’t sitting on his hands. Let’s just hope Dayton can pull off some trade-deadline magic this season.

Sporting KC players Graham Zusi and Matt Besler have, unsurprisingly, made the MLS All-Star team. It would have been an upset if Sportings’ two national-team players failed to make the MLS All-Star game. Sporting also has acquired two new midfielders: Jorge Claros and Martin Steubel.

With the early report date for training camp less than a week away, fans wonder if OLB Justin Houston will show up, or hold out due to his desire for a new contract.

Instead, it may be that the Royals become buyers and sellers. The latest of the Royals trade rumors involves the Seattle Mariners, who, much like the Royals, are in the market for another bat or two for their lineup. Seattle, desperate for anything that resembles a major league hitter at this point, has reportedly checked in on the availability of designated hitter Billy Butler.
