KC Royals Recall Mike Moustakas From Omaha

The KC Royals announced on Sunday that they have recalled third baseman Mike Moustakas from Omaha. Francisely Bueno has also been activated, as he was on the 15-day disabled list. Moustakas was optioned for Omaha last Thursday after performing poorly in the majors, but is slated to start today for the Royals.

The Royals haven’t been doing awful lately, but were destroyed yesterday against the Blue Jays in a 12-2 routing, as pitcher Aaron Brooks made his first start. Brooks gave up seven runs in the first inning alone.

Earlier in the week, the team was swept by the Houston Astros, but won two straight games against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Moustakas went 11 for 31 in eight games with the Storm Chasers despite an 0-7 start. Moose was hitting .355 and had three doubles and a home run along with five RBIs in the minors (Source: MLB.com).

Before he was sent to Omaha, Moustakas was not impressing anyone. He was only hitting .152 and had four homers and 17 RBIs.

Francisco Bueno was activated in place of Aaron Brooks, who as mentioned above, had a rough day yesterday. Brooks was optioned to Omaha. Danny Valencia was moved to the 15-day DL.

The KC Royals face the Blue Jays today, as Jeremy Guthrie (2-4) takes the mound. The Royals are currently winning the series 2-1. Kansas City is sitting at three games under .500 at 26-29 and are trailing AL Central leader Detroit by six and a half games so every win helps.
