I also touched on how well Dee Ford was going to show in day one and from the sounds of it, he didn’t disappoint. Ford was fast, strong, and made plays all day long that were worth reporting.

Something else that’s interesting in all this is that, Ford changed his number from 90 to 55. That’s the number Derrick Thomas wore in college while playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Ford is “well aware” that was his college number and has studied Derrick Thomas as a pass rusher before.

The fact that Ford is embracing the legend of Thomas and trying to bring that tradition back to Kansas City is a bit refreshing.

You want this kind of desire out of young players and from the sounds of it, his style of play is a lot like the Hall of Fame linebacker. I loved this pick from the beginning and I’m loving it more each day.
