Kansas City Chiefs 2014 Rookie Mini-Camp: What To Watch For

The Kansas City Chiefs 2014 rookie mini-camp kicks off today and runs through Monday (24th-26th), giving us plenty of football news for our Memorial Day weekend.

Like every other team across the league, the Chiefs are bringing in a new harvest of players. Not only their draft picks, but un-drafted free agents LB Ben Johnson, safety Daniel Sorenson, WR Darryl Surgent, CB David Van Dyke, RB Charcandrick West, WR Albert Wilson, and Kicker Cairo Santos.

Most of those guys play positions that will contribute on special teams heavily. It’s interesting to see they signed two wide receivers as well, considering that is a position that Chiefs fans wanted to see upgraded in 2014.

There are Tons of rules under this new CBA, as this is how the players wanted it to be. During this phase of the off season, teams cannot do any kind of contact, though they are allowed to wear their helmets. Full on coaching is allowed at this time and also a mandatory veteran mini camp in the final week of this phase, which would be June 10-13th.

I’m sure the coaches are excited to get back on the field with the players and get them going. So as rookie camp gets started today, here are some things to watch for. Starting with the health of quarterback, Aaron Murray.
