Around the Kingdom: Derrick Thomas College Football Hall of Fame, 2010 Draft, and Danny Valencia

Kansas City is one of the best sports towns in the country, and KC Kingdom has a lot of fun bringing you news from around the area for our professional and collegiate teams.

Few fans are as passionate about their teams than Kansas City fans, whether it is making Arrowheamaskd Stadium the loudest outside venue in the world, or filling up Sporting Park each match, or being Royal in Kauffman Stadium. The area also supports three of the most passionate college fan bases in the country.

Each morning, we will try to bring you some news from around our sports kingdom, in addition to the news, information, editorials, and analysis KC Kingdom already provides.

We may also pass along an interesting post or two from around the world-wide web, just for fun.

We hope enjoy the news from Around The Kingdom. Happy reading!

The big news of the day comes from Arrowhead Addict’s Ben Nielsen who reported that the College Football hall of fame will induct Derrick Thomas. I have no idea why it took so long to honor one of the great pass rushers in college history. Thomas terrorized SEC quarterbacks his senior year with TWENTY SEVEN SACKS. Are you kidding me? How is it took an extra half-decade for the NCAA to induct Thomas than it took for Canton?

Matt Connerof Arrowhead Pride isn’t looking nearly so far back when he reviews the 2010 Chiefs Draft:

While rumors included potential interest in Rolando McClain and Russell Okung among others, Eric Berry was the player that Scott Pioli wanted in the end. Unfortunately he’s the only player remaining with the Chiefs from that class.

Things are not nearly so rosy across the Truman Sports Complex where Ed Connealy is sick of what he calls the team’s immature culture:

It’s the overly coddled group of players drafted by or traded for by Moore.  The Get Along Gang.  They are immune to minor league demotions and have been convinced over and over by Royals leadership that they have arrived and are already stars.

Brian Henry, also of KK, is thinking along the same lines when he writes about starting expectations for Danny Valencia—at the expense of Mike Moustakas.

Be sure to check out KC Kingdom throughout the day for news on the Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC, Tigers, Wildcats, and Jayhawks.
