With most of the player acquisition complete for the 2014 NFL offseason, we can now get an idea where teams stand. A number of pundits have weighed in, but sports gamblers are among the best predictors because they have put their money on the line. The Kansas City Star’s Terez Paylor reports that the Chiefs currently have the 11th best odds of reaching the Super Bowl at Bovada, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 33 to one. See the full list here.

An important cog in those Super Bowl hopes is quarterback Alex Smith. With Smith in the final year of his contract, the Chiefs are trying to extend him. Matt Verderame at Arrowhead Pride considers what an Alex Smith extension might mean for other high-priced veterans on the Kansas City roster.

Things are looking up over at Kauffman Stafium. First the Royals have won two straight And now, the Kansas City Star’s Andy MCCullough writes that 2B Omar Infante is on the mend and his return is day-to-day. The Royals offense could use all the help they can get.

Meanwhile, Rany Jazayerli of Rany on the Royals weighs in on the state of the Royals at the quarter-pole. Rany offers some advice to the Royals front office:

If you win, everything will be forgiven; if you lose, all the spin in the world isn’t going to change our perception of you. You alone have the power to change The Narrative
