KC Kingdom is expanding at a rapid pace, and our goal is to be the best Kansas City area sports site on the internet. Josh, Leigh, and John are pleased to announce we have added another new staff member, Ric Ruiz, to our team.

Ric will be helping in our effort to expand our Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks coverage. We are excited to have him writing for KC Kingdom.

Ric Ruiz is off to a flying start, and has already published several things for us. In his first article, he gave us some possible scenarios where the Chiefs might pick up a second draft pick in last weekend’s NFL Draft. He then postulated on how Aaron Murray just might the Chiefs’ quarterback of the future.

Like all of the new writers to KC Kingdom, Ric Ruiz took a few minutes to answer eight questions so we can get to know him just a little better. Here are his answers to those 8 questions:

How did you become a fan of the team you’re covering?

When I was 7 my Dad introduced me to who I thought was the biggest man I’d ever seen. I remember looking at his size 20 shoes and thinking they were longer than both of my feet put together. We became friends and he would give us tickets to all the home games, even having us on the field and in the locker room to meet the other players. We went to his home met his family and I can truly say he was the closest thing to a hero Ill ever have. That man was Art Still and Ive been a fan of the Chiefs ever since.

Where did you grow up and where do you currently live?

I grew up in Kansas city, but born in Mexico City.

What is your college/educational background?

Associates in Accounting from JCCC.

What do you do for a living?

Credit Analyst

Do you have a family?

I am married have been for 10 years and I have a little girl…( wife is pregnant due any day now)

What do you like to do for fun (sports related or otherwise)?

I work out 3 days a week (weight training thus the Squatking handle on twitter). I also play tennis and pick-up basket ball and when I can find a game,  football (tackle is preferred).

What are your least favorite team(s) and why?

This one is easy…Bronco’s and Raiders. Raiders because if you love the Chiefs you hate the Raiders and the Bronco’s because of 1 man John Elway. Growing up no single player ever caused me so much heartache with his many last minute come from behind wins against the Chiefs.

What is your favorite sports moment or memory?

Joe Montana beating the Broncos at Mile High in 93…Still the best game I’ve ever seen.
