The second day of the NFL Draft captured the attention of most sports fans in America. Kansas City fans are no different. Ben Nielsen at Arrowhead Addict grades the Chiefs 3rd round selection of Rice University CB Phillip Gaines and wonders what it might mean for incumbent Brandon Flowers:

"The immediate thought for this pick is what does this mean for Brandon Flowers? This is a fair question given how much of the cap room he occupies, the Chiefs’ need to re-sign key pending free agents, and the thought that Flowers isn’t a good fit for what the Chiefs are trying to do on defense. All of these are solid points."

Nielsen also has a piece on the Twitter reaction from Chiefs fans about the Phillip Gaines pick.

Kansas State University finds itself in the middle of a major controversy about NCAA transfer rules after denying a release to star women’s point-guard Leticia Romero who wishes to transfer. This dispute cuts right to the heart of what many believe are outmoded and unfair rules in collegiate athletics. ESPN.com’s Mechelle Voepel has the complete story.

Ironically, this story comes a few days before word leaked that KSU Men’s Basketball program is on the verge of landing 4-star recruit Malek Harris. Jugs of Snyder’s Grant Nicholson writes:

"The 4 star recruit from Illinois has been described as versatile player that can perform in any role on the court and especially well on the defensive side of the ball. The other schools thought to still be in the mix for Harris include both Gonzaga and Virginia Tech, now coached by Buzz Williams who Harris originally committed to while Williams was still at Marquette."

Over in Royal-land, Kings of Kauffman’s David Hill asserts that Eric Hosmer can become an elite defensive first baseman.
