The San Diego Padres PR department treated their fans to an unusual sight on Wednesday’s afternoon game against the Kansas City Royals. The game’s first pitch was tossed out by a baby-T-Rex dinosaur from an ongoing San Diego stage show “Walking with Dinosaurs”.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve never seen anything like a T-Rex hurling a baseball by grasping it in its mouth and flinging it toward home.
The ball landed a bit short, but hey, it’s a frigging dinosaur. What do you expect?
The Padres might have been better off if they let Baby-T take the mound during the game. The Royals battered the real Padres pitching staff for 8 runs (6 earned), 14 hits, and 5 walks while winning 8-0. Kansas City took the 3 game series 2-1 in Petco Park.
Perhaps the Boys in Blue didn’t find 95-mph pitches very frightening after staring down a carnivorous dinosaur.
James Shields pitched 7 strong innings, giving up no runs and striking out four to run his record to 4-3 with a 2.70 ERA. Eric Hosmer had a big day at the plate, going 3-4, with 3 singles, a walk, a run scored, and 3 RBI’s.
Just yesterday, the Detroit Tigers had an armed samurai toss out the opening pitch. I don’t know about the rest of you Royals fans, but I find these characters just a little intimidating. I think the Royals need to reply with the Incredible Hulk or maybe get Iron Man to throw out a first pitch in Kansas City.
