Rumors, rumors, RUMORS! The Kansas City Chiefs seem to be the team talked about most when it comes to trading, and drafting, during the NFL draft this Thursday evening.
Starting with All-Pro safety, Eric Berry, he’s been mentioned in trade rumors for what seems like months now. Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star wrote a great article last month about how the time is right for the Chiefs to part ways with Berry. Mellinger wrote,
Everyone is a commodity, and for the Chiefs, Berry is more valuable as a trade piece than the starting strong safety.
For the record, I think losing Eric Berry would hurt our defense tremendously and trading him would set us back for a few seasons at that position. But it is interesting that national pundits are starting to talk more and more about an Eric Berry trade from the Chiefs.
How surprised would you be if the #Chiefs traded Safety Eric Berry on draft day?

Now, no one is saying that a trade will happen but, it is interesting that all these articles, tweets, and rumors are flying around only days before the draft. Again, I’m against a Berry trade unless it’s the best scenario that makes the most logical sense, much like what we discussed yesterday on KCK with Michael Tavis’ article. I don’t expect Berry to be traded on Thursday but you just never know.
