Around the Kingdom: Chiefs 2014 Draft, Ned Yost, and Bullpen Use

Kansas City is one of the best sports towns in the country, and KC Kingdom has a lot of fun bringing you news from around the area for our professional and collegiate teams.

Few fans are as passionate about their teams than Kansas City fans, whether it is making Arrowhead Stadium the loudest outside venue in the world, or filling up Sporting Park each match, or being Royal in Kauffman Stadium. The area also supports three of the most passionate college fan bases in the country.

Each morning, we will try to bring you some news from around our sports kingdom, in addition to the news, information, editorials, and analysis KC Kingdom already provides.

We may also pass along an interesting post or two from around the world wide web, just for fun.

We hope enjoy the news from Around The Kingdom. Happy reading!

Are you getting antsy about the Chiefs 2014 draft? So are other Chiefs fans around the web. Ben Nielsen at Arrowhead Addict reports that GM John Dorsey has narrowed his choices to four hopefuls.

Meanwhile, Laddie Morse at AA breaks down the available picks for all of the AFC West teams. Sadly, our rivals are likely to gain on the Chiefs with the upcoming draft.

Across the Truman sports complex, bullpen use seems to be the big question. Tyler Drenan at Kings of Kauffman asks who is the best guy to pitch the 8th inning?

Jonah Keri from Grantland also has the Royals bullpen use in mind, but he doubts that Royals manager Ned Yost is any worse than his peers—despite fan outcry in Kansas City.

Keri writes:

The real surprise is that managers we consider innovative also approach these situations the same way. Rays manager Joe Maddon, for instance, has faced seven tied-in-the-ninth road game situations since the beginning of last season, but has never used his closer, either Fernando Rodney last year or Grant Balfour this year.
