Kansas City Chiefs: Would You Trade For Ndamukong Suh

Mike Freeman of Bleacherreport.com, recently wrote an article about the Detroit Lions expressing interest in trading their all pro defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh. Freeman reports that the Lions have indeed been in contact with other teams to at least explore the options and what it would take to get Suh out of Detroit.
The reason Detroit is exploring these options is because they need to know what will be their options, in case the negotiations with Suh for a new contract go south. Freeman writes,
"“What the Lions are doing is standard operating procedure,” one team executive said. “Just in case they don’t think they can sign him, they’re preparing for worst case. It’s smart.”In other words, the Lions are doing their due diligence. They would be foolish not to.”"
So where does Kansas City come into play on all this? Well, in all likelihood, they don’t at all. Jason Whitlock, former beat writer for the Kansas City Star, and current writer for foxsports.com, recently made an appearance on ESPN’s afternoon show, Pardon The Interruption. The topic was discussed about the Suh being traded and Whitlock brought up how he’d love to see Suh in a Chiefs uniform,
"“I would love to see him in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform, but I give it a 25% chance he gets traded at all.”"
So with Whitlocks comments, (which you can listen to here, just fast forward to 20:00) and the fact that Detroit is more or less shopping Suh, I raised the question to myself, would I trade for Ndamukong Suh?
Immediate thought, DUH! The guy is a dominating force for any defensive line in the league, and, him paired up with Dontari Poe, Justin Houston, Derrick Johnson, and Tamba Hali just wouldn’t be fair. Could you imagine that being the core of your front seven? Sheesh.
But when you stop and smell those roses, you realize they actually smell like poo poo. Suh is asking for $22 million dollars a year- the Chiefs wouldn’t even pay their quarterback that much money- which makes him extremely unattractive, especially with his attitude issues on and off the field.
Freeman talked to a team official about this same matter,
"“Every team in football would love to have (Suh),” said one team official, “but his behavior on the field still makes teams nervous. There’s a feeling that he has no self-control.”"
Suh has been fined roughly $200,000 since entering the league and between body slams, kicks to the groin and just overall dirt play, teams aren’t going to pull the trigger on the guy. The other factor in all of this is that, Suh is set to be a free agent next year, so why not just wait and see his asking price on the open market?
I’m willing to bet that Kansas City was not one of those teams that the Lions have been in contact with, so all of this is just me entertaining a thought. Suh could help the Chiefs defense tremendously but, he is not worth $22 million and all the draft picks it would take to acquire him.
