On Wednesday evening, The University of Missouri picked up another huge commitment for their 2015 class as Lee’s Summit High School quarterback Drew Lock made the announcement he is staying a Tiger and will playing his college ball in Columbia.
The announcement wasn’t a huge shock to many, as Missouri was considered the favorite. However, Tennessee was a dark house candidate to get Lock, who was apparently wowed by the Volunteers coaching staff and facilities.
But Lock noted the family atmosphere at Mizzou, as well of coach Gary Pinkel’s recent contract extension which provides an immense amount of stability to the program.
Drew Lock is an impressive physical specimen, and is not only a talented football player, but basketball as well. At 6’3” and just under 200 lbs he has everything required to play at the next level from a physical standpoint.
This past season Lock threw for over 3,000 yards and had 35 touchdowns to only seven interceptions. Check the link below for a look at his highlights from last season.
His potential seems to be enormous, and he appears to be a natural fit for Missouri’s spread offense, as Lee’s Summit High School has a very similar spread. He is rated as the number five pro style quarterback in the entire country for the 2015 class, number two overall in the state of Missouri according to Rivals.
Missouri has now received two verbal commitments from two four star recruits in as many days. They received a verbal commitment yesterday from East St. Louis running back Nate Strong, and now Lee’s Summit quarterback Drew Lock.
The 2015 recruiting class is shaping up to the best in Missouri football history, with obviously plenty of time for it to still improve. Gary Pinkel and his staff are building a ton of momentum as they head into year number three in the SEC. This is a very exciting time to be a Missouri Tiger Football fan.
