PITCHING MATCH UP
Two veterans face off against in each other on Saturday as Bruce Chen will go for the Kansas City Royals and John Danks takes the bump for the Chicago White Sox. In 2013, Chen was a pleasant surprise for the Royals. He went 9-4 with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.182 WHIP. Chen spent the first half of the season in bullpen but made 15 starts over the second half. Danks, bouncing back from surgery, made 22 starts last season, going an awful 4-14 with an 4.75 ERA and a 1.287 WHIP.
The Royals finally woke up on Friday, scoring 7 runs on 13 hits against Erik Johnson and the White Sox. Kansas City only had 4 runs on 13 hits in 2 games in Detroit to start the season. Alex Gordon got things going early with a bases loaded triple in the first inning that scored 3. Omar Infante and Norichika Aoki each had three hits.
The Kansas City Royals really did little to cool off the hot Chicago bats, even in the win. The Sox have scored 26 runs in their first four games thus far. Chicago has pounded out 44 hits early in the season. Chen and the Royals need to shut down the White Sox’ blazing hot offense over the next tow games.
