THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. SHOCKERS BELONG: The Wichita State Shockers are 35-0, but there are many that don’t believe they are a top team due to their schedule. Kentucky will be the best team, by far, the Shockers have faced all year. Wichita State needs to retain their incredible discipline on the court, and prove that can outplay a much more ballyhooed roster.
2. HIT THE BOARDS – HARD!: Kentucky is one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, averaging 41.3 boards a game (5th). The Shockers need to work very hard to keep the relentless Wildcats off the glass. Kentucky is long and athletic, and they will be coming hard. If Wichita State can limit the second chances by the Wildcats, they will have a very good chance to win.
3. GUARD HARD: At times, the Wildcats struggle to score. They only scored 56 in their first game against Kansas State. If the Shockers can put pressure on the Wildcats, and disrupt the Kentucky offense, they may be able to rattle the younger squad. Wichita State is a terrific defensive team but they have not played a team as talented as they will play today. They will need to put forth maximum effort to make the Wildcats uncomfortable.
