KC Kingdom is expanding at a rapid pace, and our goal is to be the best Kansas City area sports site on the internet. Aaron, Josh, and I are pleased to announce we have added another new staff member, Brian Barnett, to our staff roster.
Brian will be helping in our effort to expand our Royals coverage, plus maybe stuff Chiefs, Tigers, and Sporting KC content as well. We are excited to have him writing for KC Kingdom.
Brian has hit the ground running, and has already published his first two articles with us. In his first article, he shows it may not be as hard as some think to replicate the stats from last years rotation, and he discusses the roster battles that do exist for the Royals this spring in his second article.
Like all of the new writers to KC Kingdom, Brian Barnett took a few minutes to answer eight questions so we can get to know him just a little better. Here are his answers to those 8 questions:
How did you become a fan of the team you’re covering?
I have been a Royals fan for my entire life. Like everyone else my age, I would try to be George Brett every time I picked up a bat.
Where did you grow up and where do you currently live?
I moved from Kansas City out to Lees Summit when I was 12. My wife and I lived in Raytown for about 10 years before moving back to Lees Summit a couple of years ago.
What is your college/educational background?
Went to Longview for a year after high school, then went out to start working on computers as we started having kids.
What do you do for a living?
I.T. work for a law firm.
Do you have a family?
I am married, we have a 13 year old daughter and 10 year old son.
What do you like to do for fun (sports related or otherwise)?
Hanging out with my kids mostly. In the summer I love to get out every night and take care of our yard and flowers.
What are your least favorite team(s) and why?
The Broncos because of John Elway. The Jayhawks for being from a terrible state.
What is your favorite sports moment or memory?
Watching Sporting KC win the MLS cup last year. It was the first time that I was ever able to see a team I root for win a championship.
