Kansas Jayhawks Vs Texas Longhorns: Who to Put Your Money On

Later on today, the Kansas Jayhawks will look to avenge their 81-69 loss against the Texas Longhorns from earlier on in the month. I am here to give you some advice on who to put your money on whether you’re in Vegas, betting online, or just betting against your pals.

Kansas has been playing pretty well lately, winning four of the last five, with the loss coming in overtime against a very good Kansas State Wildcats team. I don’t like to brag – okay maybe I do – but I called this game in my last “Who to Put Your Money On” article, which you can find here.

My Key For the Win in KU’s case, is Joel Embiid‘s defensive presence. If he, along with Perry Ellis, can keep Cameron Ridley and company out of the paint, causing them to shot jump shots all night, Allen Fieldhouse will be loud and proud without a doubt.

If not, this game will be a tough game for the Jayhawks. Texas is ranked 5th in the nation in rebounds with 42 per game. With that many opportunities, Jonathan Holmes, who has 13.1 points per game, 51% field goal percentage, and near 40% from beyond the arc, is bound to make some plays.

The biggest concern for me when it comes to the Longhorns, is that they don’t perform well on the road, especially in conference battles: lost by 13 at Oklahoma State, 17 at Kansas State, and 9 at Iowa State. This fact was a big reason why I decided to pick K-State to upset Texas two weeks ago.

This Jayhawks team is very good when they have something big to play for; revenge, playing a Top-25 team, etc.. This should be a classic hard fought battle for most of the first half, with Kansas pulling away in the second half.

Kansas is 2 games ahead of Texas in the battle atop the Big 12, so this should be a very hard fought battle between a good team, and a great team. With the great team prevailing, like usual.

My Prediction:

Currently, the Jayhawks are sitting as (-10) point favorites, but the public is leaning towards the Longhorns covering that spread. My system has the Jayhawks at a 66% chance of winning, so I  am predicting that “The Phog” helps KU to a 81-70 victory, winning Straight Up (SU), and Against the Spread (ATS).
