Kansas Jayhawks vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys: Who to Put Your Money On

This battle between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Oklahoma State Cowboys has all the makings for a classic Big-12 battle. Both teams are riding a 3-game win streak, but some would say Kansas’ streak is a little more impressive considering the opponents (Oklahoma, K-State, & Iowa State).

Since the start of the new year, the Cowboys have scored 78.25 Points Per Game, and held their opponents to 67.5 PPG. On the other hand, the Jayhawks have scored 77.5 PPG, and held their opponents to 68.5 PPG since the beginning of 2014. Pretty even numbers in those categories.

The Cowboys’ last two conference games didn’t look very good, with a loss to K-State, and only a 1-point victory over arguably the worst team in the Big-12 in TCU (Texas Christian University). This game at Allen Field House is going to be the Pokies hardest road game and their hardest conference game of the season. “The Phog” is a very tough place for road teams to earn a dub.

Like “The Phog”, The Jayhawks are finally starting to connect all the pieces of the puzzle, and it couldn’t have came at a better time in the season. KU has moved up to 6th in the nation in Field-Goal Percentage, shooting an outstanding 50%. Their maturity level gets better with every game.

Kansas has become more well-rounded, with 3 different players leading the team in the 5 categories: Points, Rebounds, Assists, Steals, and Blocks. Whereas Marcus Smart leads his team in 3 out of those 5 categories, and is second on the team in rebounds.

The Jayhawks are 18-3 Straight Up in their last 21 home games, and 5-1 SU in their last 6 matches against OKST. The Cowboys are 1-5 Against the Spread in their last 6 road games, but KU is only 3-6 ATS when playing at home against Oklahoma State. In 4 of the past 6 meetings between these two teams at Allen Fieldhouse, the Total has gone OVER.

The biggest factor in this game will be Andrew Wiggins vs. Marcus Smart. Whoever plays better and puts their team on their back will be victorious. With the recent outstanding play by Joel Embiid, I am giving this one to Wiggins and the Jayhawks.

I predict that Kansas beats Oklahoma State, covers the spread, AND the total will go OVER.
