Seems hard to believe it has been ten days since Sporting Kansas City won the MLS Cup, but it is true.
And now that everyone has had a chance to settle down a little bit, the video’s from Sporting’s win are starting to pop up all over the internet. What has been crazy about these highly produced video’s – the one’s that clearly were filmed professionally – are how epic they are. It is almost as if Sporting saved the world with their Cup victory. Try watching these things and not get crazy emotional.
The first effort came from MLS themselves, properly named “On the Edge of Glory.” Yes, I was a little surprise to not hear a Lady Gaga song in the background, too. Though, unlike you, I was kind of disappointed about it. Here’s the video.
Next we have former Kansas City Wizard Jimmy Conrad cursing his way through his analysis of the MLS Cup. You could tell he was emotionally invested in Kansas City winning this thing, but with his actual words – he says he’s rooting for KC in the video – and with actions while filming. The look on his face right while on the pitch right after KC clinched the Cup is maybe the best moment of all of these videos.
Finally, we have Sporting KC’s offering. There was a disappointing lack of Robb Heineman drinking Boulevard beer out of the Cup scenes in the video, but it did a good job of furthering the “This is the most epic thing to happen in Kansas City since 1985.” It was well done.
So what do you think? Which was your favorite Sporting highlight video?
