The Pregame: Kansas State Looks To Win Another Sunflower Showdown

Time: 11 a.m.

TV: Fox Sports 1

Radio: 610 KCSP

History: KU leads series 64-41-5

Line: K-State, -16

1. Ryan Mueller

Mueller could be in line for a huge day if KU’s offensive line plays like it has all season in the passing game.

2. Secondary

Ty Zimmerman missed last week with a broken leg and will, obviously, be out this week, too. K-State struggled with out his consistent play in the secondary and allowed 41 points to a struggling Oklahoma offense as a result.

3. Tyler Lockett and Speed

Lockett had 278 yards and three touchdowns in K-State’s loss to OU. KU is going to have a hard time containing his and Tramaine Thompson’s speed.

Tallgrass Brewery’s Velvet Rooster should get you up and ready for 2013’s edition of the Sunflower Showdown.

1. Offensive Line

Saturday represents the final game of Tim Grunhard’s career as KU’s offensive line coach. Will the o-line play with a little extra emphasis knowing it is their coach’s final game?

2. Montell Cozart

Cozart looked disinterested in Ames last week and needs to have a good bounce-back game this week if he wants to go into next season as the leading candidate to be KU’s starting quarterback.

3. James Sims

The Sunflower Showdown represents James Sims final game as a college running back. He’s already surpassed 1,000 yards rushing on the season, one of only 13 college players to have rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons.
