Sanders Commings is best known for saying there is no reason why the Kansas City Chiefs can’t win the Super Bowl. Today he’ll get the chance to back that statement up with his play on the field.
Commings has been awarded his first appearance on the active roster ahead of Dunta Robinson, who has been slowed by injury. Robinson will be joined on the inactive list by Tyler Bray, Nico Johnson, Eric Kush, Rokevious Watkins, Rishaw Johnson, and Jaye Howard, none of whom are a surprise.
Denver is pretty banged up outside of Peyton Manning.
Cornerback Champ Bailey and linebacker Nate Irving are each inactive tonight, which puts a strain on what is already an average defense. This could mean Dwayne Bowe is more active in the passing game than normal as he generally struggles against the very talented Bailey.
Former Kansas Jayhawk defensive back Chris Harris, who is a solid corner, will start in place of Bailey and likely be the corner assigned to Bowe.
What a team to debut against for Sanders Commings. If he gets into the game, other than on special teams, it will be tough to hide him from Peyton Manning, who doesn’t seem to miss anything on the field.
