Peyton Manning did not participate in practice for the Denver Broncos this afternoon, according to several reports, but he is still expected to play on Sunday.
Ominous sign? Peyton Manning didn’t practice today. http://t.co/06kfMVm7b8

Peyton Manning is still going to play Sunday. And he’s going to hold his regular Weds presser at 1:15.

This doesn’t come as a surprise as interim head coach Jack Del Rio said he planned on resting Manning at spots throughout this week to keep him healthy for Sunday’s game. What will be interesting to see is how many practices Manning misses. The more practices he misses, the better understanding we’ll have of the severity of the injury.
It should be noted Manning did not practice on the Wednesday before the Indianapolis Colts game, so it is not unheard of for Manning to miss practices on Wednesdays.
Still, any missed practice time for Manning has to be considered a positive for the Chiefs, who will likely be bringing different blitz packages and rushes they have yet to show on film. Communication between Manning, his offensive line, and receivers is going to be crucial for Denver, and if Manning is missing time on the field then that means Denver won’t have as many reps dealing with those protection schemes before Sunday.
Will that be the difference on Sunday? If Kansas City can get a few hits on Manning because of miscommunication between Manning and his offensive line and receivers, then, yes, it could be key to a Chiefs win.
