Chiefs Fans: Try And Enjoy This Ride

The Kansas City Chiefs enter their bye week at 9-0 and still remain the only undefeated team in the NFL. To me, that will never get old to say. Considering what the Chiefs have been through the past few seasons, it’s refreshing to see them be the team who capitalizes on other teams mistakes instead of being the team who makes the mistakes, and finds ways to lose the game.

Ugly or not, the Chiefs are 9-0 and fans should try and focus on the positives of this season and not what the national media has to say about them, or their chances. Kansas City is not your typical NFL juggernaut, so it’s hard for us to not focus on the glaring issues with this team. My point is this, seasons like this don’t happen very often. Only 18 other teams in NFL history have started a season 9-0 and none of them were done by a team that had the worst record in the NFL the year before.

What Kansas City is doing this season is special and if you focus on the positives, I promise it will be a lot more enjoyable. Trust me, I realize how much better this team needs to get if it truly wants to be a contender for the Super Bowl but, I’m just trying to sit back and enjoy this ride a little bit. It’s been a long time since the Chiefs were the team who stopped their opponent five times from their own one yard line and ended their drive with a “busted” coverage, 100 yard pick six that completely flipped the game! Some call it luck, and to that I say, luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

These players rave about how well prepared they are from their coaching staff, week in and week out. Their focus and their preparation is what’s creating these opportunities, like a 100 yard pick six, or a fumble recovery by the special teams in the end zone. By now, we should realize that these are not just fluke plays. This is a talented, well prepared football team that won’t get in it’s own way. Each week, it seems like something just isn’t quite clicking then BOOM! They opportunistically come up with some game changing play that gives them the spark they need to lead them to another victory. It’s awesome!

As a writer for this website, I’m supposed to break down and analyze anything and everything I can about this team. This time, I’m analyzing from a perspective. This team and this season is a great story and it’s moving along fast. If you don’t stop and take a moment to enjoy it, you might miss it.

See what I did there?
