The Postgame: National Title Contenders Missouri Tigers Defeat Georgia

Score: Missouri 41, Georgia 26

It was over when: Henry Josey punched it in from seven yards out to give Missouri a two possession lead with 2:18 remaining in the game.

Player of the Game: L’Damian Washington.

Fun Fact: This was Missouri’s first road win over a top 10 team since Oct. 3, 1981 against Mississippi State.

1. Victory

Is this the biggest win in Pinkel’s tenure at Missouri? The Kansas win at Arrowhead in 2007 and the victory over Oklahoma in Columbia would be the biggest competitors.

2. Turnovers

Missouri’s defense forced four turnovers while the Tigers offense had a clean sheet, which ended up being the difference in the game.

3. L’Damian Washington

How awesome was this guy on Saturday afternoon? Seven catches, most of them in clutch situations, and two touchdowns. A tremendous performance.

1. James Franklin

Franklin strained his shoulder in the fourth quarter and was seen walking around with huge icepack on his shoulder. X-rays were negative, so that is a good thing, but it is unknown how long Franklin may be out.

2. Defense

Even with all the injuries Georgia had on offense the Bulldogs put up 454 yards on Missouri. Georgia’s running game was almost unstoppable in the third quarter, which got them back in the game late. There is a lot that needs to improve there before South Carolina and Florida.

3. Penalties

Ten penalties for Missouri, fire the Tigers don’t want to play with too much.
