KC KINGDOM: How close was Oakland to landing Josh Freeman? What was the sense about the possibility of landing him with the way Terrell Pryor is playing?

RUTTIG: If you believe the insiders around the league it was very close, and the fact that Reggie McKenzie was reported to be interested in bringing him in to start shows that he still doesn’t truly believe that Pryor is going to carry his play into the future.

So far Pryor has went above and beyond what anyone expected of him. I was on him as the Raiders starter since training camp and he put in a ton of work in learning to properly throw the football with Tom Brady’s old throwing coach and that has been a huge help. I think RM doesn’t want to build a team around Pryor for whatever reason, but he continues to force the Raiders staff to put their trust in him with great play.
