For one quarter Saturday, there was hope for Jayhawk fans. Hope that their team wasn’t as bad as many of us suspect. Hope they might win a Big 12 conference game in 2013. It did not take long for that hope to die.

After Kansas stopped Texas Tech on the Red Raiders’ first three possessions, and after Kansas scored on its first two, it looked like things were finally going to go Kansas’ way. It looked maybe the Jayhawks could pull off an upset.

Texas Tech quickly adjusted; Kansas didn’t. After a Kansas fumble and an inexplicable fake punt failed deep in their own territory, Tech was able to turn those errors into touchdowns and led at half 20-10. It all went down hill from there.

If nothing else, the red helmets with the Fighting Jayhawk were awesome!
