3-0!

Two road wins (if you count the Jacksonville game as a, well, game) and tough home win against the Dallas Cowboys now have the Chiefs in a really good position for the rest of the first half of the season. Kansas City plays four of their next five at home, and only one opponent, Houston Texans, made the playoffs last season.

Things are looking very good for the Chiefs to have an excellent season.

QUOTES

“Nowhere has red felt better than today.” – Andy Reid

“The one thing I appreciate about these guys, they play as a team. They create energy among themselves. They don’t let a lot of things get them down.” – Andy Reid

“I’m a vet. I haven’t had much success in this league. Now it’s all about W’s and not about numbers.” – Dwayne Bowe on having just one catch for four yards.

“I took a Kansas City T-shirt and an Eagles T-shirt, split them right down the middle and sewed them up … one on each side.” – Donna Kelce, mother of Eagles center Jason Kecle and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“As it turns out, slowing down the most-hyped offense in the NFL is actually pretty easy. Just take the two best defensive players in football through two and a half weeks, let them wreak havoc, and never give that offense the ball back. This football stuff is easy! The Chiefs didn’t reveal a blueprint for stopping Michael Vick and beating the Eagles 26-16 last night, because other teams can’t replicate what the Chiefs can do defensively. And the Chiefs are a scary team that nobody is going to want to play all season for that same reason.” Bill Barnwell, Grantland

HIGHLIGHTS

Eric Berry pick-six.

– Sean Smith interception.

Jamaal Charles touchdown run.

– Celebration after the game. Andy Reid appeared happy.

NOTES

– Road teams are now 25-39 on Thursday nights. Huge win.

– Kansas City has been in the red zone nine times this season: Six touchdowns, two field goals, one trip without points. Looking for reasons why the Chiefs are so much better this year? Red zone play has to be in the top three.

Justin Houston: 3.5 sacks, three passes defensed, a forced fumble, two fumbles recovered. Not bad.

He now has 7.5 sacks for the season. That’s the most for this early in a season since former New York Jet Mark Gastineau, eight, back in 1984. Gastineau finished the season with 22 sacks.
