Keys To The Game for the Chiefs:
- Containing Michael Vick: The Chiefs’ aggressive, blitzing defense must try to contain Vick in the pocket. The ends must hold the edges, and Dontari Poe must dominate the middle. That is a lot of musts. If Vick continually breaks containment, it will be a long night. It will be interesting to see if Bob Sutton’s defense backs off some of their blitzes tonight.
- The Running Game: Last week, Andy Reid completely abandoned the running game until the final drive of the game. Kansas City needs to control the clock more in this game to allow the defense plenty of rest. This is imperative because the Eagles’ offense will be spreading out the Chiefs’ defense, and will keep the pace brisk. The Chiefs don’t want a worn down defense late in the game.
- Andy Reid: The Chiefs’ coach is making his return to the city in which he coached for 14 seasons. Reid won 224 games as the Philadelphia head man. People always want to brush off the emotions of games like this but there has to be a level of emotion within Reid. Hopefully, it can be turned into a positive for Reid and his present players. If Reid tries to just go out and prove his way was the best way instead of managing the game itself, things could get out of hand. He is a professional, so look for him to keep the game under control. Here’s hoping the Philadelphia fans treat Reid in his return with respect.
