Report: Eric Fisher to be Chiefs Pick

Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that Luke Joeckel has been informed that Eric Fisher will be the Chiefs number one overall pick. It is possible this is another smokescreen from Kansas City but the Chiefs have been linked to Fisher before.

The decision comes as a slight surprise as most felt Luke Joeckel was the better prospect in the draft. Joeckel has been number one on most people’s boards for a long time. We have a profile of Fisher for you to read if you want to catch up on him. Here’s a excerpt:

Eric Fisher is a big man at 6’7″, 306 pounds. This past season he was named First Team All-Mac and started all 12 games at left tackle for Central Michigan. He is known for his size, flexibility, and quickness. He has entered the discussion as a possible first overall pick for the Chiefs after a strong Senior Bowl performance and great showing in the NFL Combine.

Now the question will be if Fisher will play right or left tackle. There is no movement on the Branden Albert trade front though both teams are reported to be talking to each other about a deal. Most of the hang up seems to be over compensation for the Chiefs who want the Dolphins number 42 overall pick while Miami wants to give the 54th overall pick. If Albert is kept then he will remain at left tackle while Fisher will play right tackle.
