Ed Werder of ESPN is reporting that the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins are tabling trade talks until after both teams have made their first round pick, leaving Branden Albert’s fate in limbo for another few hours.
The assumption here is that Miami believes there is a chance they could get either Eric Fisher or Luke Joeckel either at the number 12 overall pick or after trading up in the draft. Reports around the league suggest the Chiefs will take Eric Fisher with the top overall pick so the question now is how far will Joeckel fall in the draft. If he falls far enough then Miami may reengage in trade talks. There is also potential Miami takes Lane Johnson.
In terms of offensive linemen needs the Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers, and Baltimore Ravens are among the teams who are looking for a tackle. Only Baltimore drafts after the Miami Dolphins so Miami would likely need to make a jump into the top 10, if not higher, to land Joeckel. Some reports say the Dolphins are not interested in Johnson though he could also be a possibility.
There is always the chance the reports of Kansas City taking Fisher are untrue and both of the tackles are in play for Miami, which could also hinder a deal.
