Chiefs Preseason Schedule Released

The NFL has released the preseason schedules for the 2013 season this afternoon.

The Chiefs will have four preseason games this season, two at home and two on the road. They’ll open the preseason at New Orleans, one of the two places Kansas City managed to get a victory last season. They’ll then come home to face the San Francisco 49ers, the defending NFC champions and former team of new Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. Kansas City will then travel to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers before returning home to play the Packers. The Chiefs have played the Packers in three straight preseasons.

Times and dates for these games will be released at a later date. Preseason games will begin the week of August 8-11.

Preseason games have not been very kind to Kansas City, totaling a pathetic 7-29 record in exhibition games since 2004. The Chiefs have gone winless in four preseasons during that same time span. For their last winning preseason you’ll have to go back to 2003 when the Chiefs went 3-2 thanks to a Hall of Fame game victory. A bad preseason record doesn’t really mean anything but when you lose as many games as the Chiefs have lost of late, it doesn’t help.

The 2013 regular season schedule is expected to be announced later in the month, possibly April 16. Kansas City will have games against the NFC East and AFC South this season.

Home: Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants.

Away: Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, and Buffalo Bills.
