KC Headlines: Kansas Wins, Chris Getz, A Sad Dog Story Turns Awkward

ABOUT LAST WEEKEND…

The Kansas Jayhawks somehow managed to avoid the upset bug and advance to the Sweet Sixteen this weekend with wins over Western Kentucky and North Carolina. The same could not be said for Kansas State and Missouri, who each fell in the first round of the tournament.

Chris Getz beat out Johnny Giavotella for the starting second basemen job. Giavotella was optioned to Omaha.

Down Graham Zusi and Matt Besler due to international competition, Sporting KC still managed to earn a point on the road against New England.

IN OTHER NEWS…

Ned Yost has tweaked the lineup in an attempt to get Billy Butler more pitches to hit. (KC Star – paywall)

Vahe Gregorian points to cohesion and consistency as the problems to Missouri’s season. (Post-Dispatch)

With Rodney McGruder and Jordan Henriquez leaving, Kansas State has some big holes to fill. (Eagle)

ELSEWHERE AND EVERYWHERE….

Something has to change about the Blocking/Charge call in college basketball. Too many issues. Just ask Iowa State.

My bracket is beyond busted. I don’t even want to talk about the WEST region. With that said, watching Florida Gulf Coast dunk its way to the Sweet 16 was pretty fun to watch this weekend.

Sergio Garcia climbs a tree, plays a shot, injures himself.

ONE MORE THING…

I don’t think that dog is doing what you think it is doing… (via Hot Clicks)
