The Kansas Jayhawks somehow managed to avoid the upset bug and advance to the Sweet Sixteen this weekend with wins over Western Kentucky and North Carolina. The same could not be said for Kansas State and Missouri, who each fell in the first round of the tournament.
Chris Getz beat out Johnny Giavotella for the starting second basemen job. Giavotella was optioned to Omaha.
Down Graham Zusi and Matt Besler due to international competition, Sporting KC still managed to earn a point on the road against New England.
