Missouri fans are going to be excited: Chase Daniel is coming back to Missouri as a Kansas City Chief after signing a three-year deal this afternoon. Financial terms have not been released, but rumors are the contract will be worth more than $3 million per year.
The former New Orleans Saints backup has been watching Drew Brees for the last three seasons, attempting only nine passes in that time. Daniel was on the roster for the Saints when they won the Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts.
Daniel, 26, was a Heisman Trophy candidate with the Tigers from 2005 to 2008, totaling 12,515 yards and 101 touchdowns in his three years as a starter. He will be known more in Kansas City for leading the Tigers to a victory over the Kansas Jayhawks at Arrowhead Stadium to win the Big 12 North in 2009.
The signing has riled up the Missouri/Kansas rivalry on twitter.

@northmoroyal Its a waste of cap space for a guy that should not start for the chiefs.

I can hear the MIZ cheers in the 2nd quarter of an important August football game as Chase Daniel calmly marches the team down the field.

I’m hereby renouncing my fan hood of the Kansas City Chiefs. I’m not rooting for a team that has Chase Daniel on it.
