Former Missouri Tiger Chase Daniel Signs With Chiefs

Missouri fans are going to be excited: Chase Daniel is coming back to Missouri as a Kansas City Chief after signing a three-year deal this afternoon. Financial terms have not been released, but rumors are the contract will be worth more than $3 million per year.

The former New Orleans Saints backup has been watching Drew Brees for the last three seasons, attempting only nine passes in that time. Daniel was on the roster for the Saints when they won the Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts.

Daniel, 26, was a Heisman Trophy candidate with the Tigers from 2005 to 2008, totaling 12,515 yards and 101 touchdowns in his three years as a starter. He will be known more in Kansas City for leading the Tigers to a victory over the Kansas Jayhawks at Arrowhead Stadium to win the Big 12 North in 2009.

The signing has riled up the Missouri/Kansas rivalry on twitter.

Feel free to express your joy/anger in the comment section. We’ll have more details on Daniel as they come in.

If the signing helps the Chiefs, I don’t care who he played his college ball. As far as I am concerned, he doesn’t play for MU anymore, but is a Kansas City Chief.

Follow up question: Do you actually believe what you just wrote?

Yes- he hasn’t played for Missouri in what, 5 years? Who cares? I’m more worried that he isn’t any good than where he played college ball. I detest MU as much as the next guy but let’s not get ridiculous. Maybe they will sign Talib to balance things out…
