Kansas State Lands Two Linemen

Offensive tackle Robert Castaneda and guard Dalton Risner committed to Kansas State today. Head coach Bill Snyder now has three commitments for the 2014 recruiting class.

Castaneda is a 6-5, 300 pound high schooler from Round Rock High School in Round Rock, Texas. He had only one other offer, Texas Tech, but did have Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, and Baylor on his list of schools. At the SPARQ combine in Texas, Castaneda ran a 5.38 40-yard dash and  4.78 shuttle, and earned first-team all-district in his junior year last season.

Risner is a Wiggins, Colorado product who spurned nine other offers to commit to the Wildcats. Missouri, Colorado, and Boise State offered Risner while Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Stanford showed interest.

Even as a two way player in a small 1A school, Risner has shown a lot of ability. He was a first-team all-state member last season on the strength of 70 tackles and two sacks. The 6-4, 285 pound guard will be a senior at Wiggins High School this fall.
