Flashes Of Brilliance And Defeat From Colts Win Against Chiefs

Plays and drives from today’s Chiefs loss that are the epitomy of the Kansas City Chiefs season…

Flash of Brilliance: Defense holds Indy to a 3 and out on the opening possession of the game.

Flash of Defeat: After a pass for a first down, Quinn throws a bad ball, behind the cutting McCluster, which is picked off for an interception, and runs 32 yards for a touchdown.

Brilliance: Quinn passes across the middle to Baldwin, who picks up speed and runs for 57 yards to the Indy 23.

Defeat: Charles runs for almost 20 yards, down to the 6 yard line of Indy. Holding on the play by Allen brings the play back, Chiefs settle for a field goal.

Brilliance: On 2nd and 10, Hillis, up the right side for a first down!

Defeat: After an 11 play drive, Succop misses the 43 yard field goal.

Brilliance: Chiefs engineer an 11 play drive that started with 5:27 left on the clock.

Defeat: Charles fumbles on the Indy 16 yard line, and Indy marches down the field and kicks a field goal.

Brilliance: At the half, the Chiefs lead in yardage by a 2-1 margin, but the score is Indy 13, KC 3.

Flash of Brilliance: On the first play to open the second half, Jamaal Charles breaks a run for 86 yards and a Touchdown! Great blocking by all, and especially Jonathan Baldwin.

Flash of Defeat: This touchdown was the first touchdown in 28 drives! Last touchdown was an 80 yard run by Charles.

Flash of Brilliance: With 1:37 to go in the 3rd, Colts 13, Chiefs 10, Luck passes to T.Y.Hilton and the pass is broken up by Brandon Flowers on a monster play!

Flash of Brilliance: Eric Berry stays step by step with Reggie Wayne on a perfect throw by Andrew Luck, and Berry knocks the ball away at the last second. After the next play where Chiefs get pressure on Luck, Colts punt.

Flash of Defeat: With just over 10 minutes to go, and the Chiefs in field goal range, the game tied, the Chiefs go for it on 4th and 1 from the Colts 27, and fail!

Flash of Defeat: With the game on the line, tied at 13, the Colts engineer a 14 play, 73 yard touchdown drive, ending in a Touchdown Pass from Andrew Luck to Reggie Wayne.

Flash of Defeat: On the final KC Possession, with 4 minutes to go, down by 7, the Chiefs go Incomplete, Run of 2, Run of -2, Punt.

Flash of Brilliance: 507 Total Yards
Flash of Defeat: 13 Total Points

There were great moments in the game today, but once again, penalties, turnovers, and bad play calling doom the Chiefs. If we can just string together more of these flashes of brilliance, maybe there is hope… Next Year!
